Motion Sickness Symptoms

The most common symptom of motion sickness is nausea (which incidentally means 'sea sickness' in Greek), other symptoms include vomiting and headaches.  Unlike many illnesses, however, vomiting usually does not make you feel any better at all.

How To Deal With Motion Sickness

There are a number of drugs that help you combat motion sickness quite efficiently but at the same time they will make you feel drowsy and/or induce sleep; the best cure so far is the wrist bands which regulate your pulse and thus, stop the nauseous feeling and vomiting as well. One of the quickest ways to stop motion sickness is to get your ears and eyes to agree with each other.

This can be done by looking out of a window, or getting up on deck if you are on a boat.  If you can stare at the horizon, you will quickly find that your brain calms down and no longer feels the need to induce the defense mechanism that is making you feel sick.  Another thing to try is dry crackers to settle your stomach, and green apples, or something containing ginger.  These things are traditional home remedies which can help reduce the feeling of motion sickness and make you feel better more quickly.

As someone who suffers terribly from motion sickness I have to agree with this - you need to get your body back into equilibrium. I hate sitting on busses and facing sideways or away from the direction I'm travelling, it just makes me feel so much worse.

I haven't tried wrist bands yet, but medications do help, and you can sometimes even avoid having to take anything if you take some precautions, like not travelling while already tired, and not reading on the bus / plane…

Try taking ginger capsules if you suffer from motion sickness I used to be one of the worlds worst and within five minutes of being in the back of a car I would feel totally green around the gills. Since a friend told me a about ginger capsules my travelling life has been revolutionized.

Being able to see forward always used to bring me some relief

Actually the only time I was even motion sick was on a cruise ship. It didn't help that the ship was going through hurricane waters. I'd driven, taken busses, and even been in small fidhing boats a number of times before. But there was something about the size of the boat in combination with the fact that I couldn't see what was coming. My hubby thought I was crazy because the only time I was feeling well is when we were on a speed boat during one of the excursions.
