I don't have it anymore, and can't say that I ever had it really bad, but my first flight as a child was a horrible experience for me because of motion sickness. Luckily my parents had prepared in advance and I was able to take some Dramamine to kick the motion sickness to the curb.

The few times I've been on bigger boats, I found that motion sickness wasn't too much of a problem. I live near a river, and occasionally use the ferry since it's cheaper than most other forms of public transport. I hate the ferry, and spend most of the time clutching my stomach, but on bigger ships I honestly don't notice I'm moving unless I go up on deck.
Still, it's worth taking something for motion sickness just in case you hit bad weather. As someone who isn't a fan of medicines, I would say take some anti-sickness tablets as a last resort, and something else - like ginger, or sea bands, to try first - you never know, they may work for you, and if they do, they have less side effects too

You may think I'm strange but I have great news. I tried the ginger tea just for the crossing from Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight………it worked not even a blip of nausea. I am so pleased and now looking forward to my cruise with my sister. (I know it's only an hour crossing but it's very choppy and I suffer terrible). Not this time so pleased.
