Cruise Shore Excursions: Tips For Budget Travelers

When it comes to cruise shore excursions, you might be amazed at the variety of things that there are to do and see when you cruise docks at a port. You aren't abandoned during cruise shore excursions either – you will usually be given a book of coupons for stores at each port, and given some advice on places to see, where to go for shopping, and good places to eat.

Buy Tickets For Local Attractions At Reduced Rates

You will also be offered the chance to buy tickets for local attractions, and if you are interested in any of them, this is worth doing, as the prices on the ship will usually be better than the rate offered on land, as the attractions offer special deals to the cruise industry, as they get a lot of trade from cruise visitors.

Another way to save money for cruise shore excursions is for the family to eat a hearty breakfast or lunch on the ship before leaving. You can then sample local foods or decide to spend your money on souvenirs and tee shirts.

While on the ship, study maps of the areas that you will be visiting, and try to find some attractions that are either free, or inexpensive.  You will probably be able to fill your cruise shore excursion time with inexpensive sightseeing, which can be a massive boon to a budget traveler.

Don't Schedule Too Much

Don't worry about trying to fit in too much at once – especially things like water-sports, which are very popular with cruise goers.  Often, people spend more time waiting in queues, or traveling to and from the sporting facilities – meaning they are rushed and stressed, and don't get to do any sight-seeing on the cruise.  You will have more fun if you just explore the area, and save such sporting activities for a different vacation.

Cruise travel is the same for everyone on the cruise.  The only difference is the location of your cabin, and the price you paid for it.  The food, service, and activities are the same for all the guests, offering a kind of level playing field you would not get with any other vacation, and taking the stress of travel, and budgeting, away.  If you've never tried a cruise before – do so this year, you will be pleasantly surprised.
