Choosing Your Hawaii Cruise
Where To Sleep?
One consideration that many find important is where you will sleep – some cruises travel to ports during the night. Others call in at a port on an evening, and let you stay overnight in a hotel on land, then take you to the next port of call during the day. Which cruise you choose comes down to personal preference – for some, a cabin on the ship is most convenient, for others, sleeping on dry land feels better. Typically costs are around the same for both kinds of cruise.
How Long?
If you choose to cruise at sea, the next item to decide is how long your cruise will be. Many cruise lines offer Hawaii cruises in three, four, seven, and fourteen day trips. There are some lines that specialize in shorter trips while others only conduct cruises of a week or longer. In many cases, the length of the cruise will determine which cruise line you would like to book with. When reviewing Hawaii cruises, remember that if you live in the continental United States, you will need an extra travel day for arrival and an extra day for departure.
Which Ports?
The most popular Hawaiian destinations are Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and Kona – different cruises will call at different ports, and could offer different activities – browse the itinerary and see which ones appeal to you – would you prefer to go scuba diving? Hiking in the rain forests? Shopping? Golfing? Try to pick a cruise that suits the kind of activities you want to do, and calls at places that interest you.
