Cruise Tips and Advice

Sometimes, deciding where to go on a vacation is quite easy.  If you are on a limited budget, or are only able to travel short distances, then your choices are limited to begin with.  For those of us more fortunate, however, the decision can be quite difficult – if you have always wanted to see the world, then deciding where to go first can be bewildering!

That said, if you can't pick out just one place, why not visit more than one?  Taking a cruise lets you see several locations in one holiday, and there's plenty to do on the ship between ports as well. Armed with great travel tips cruise advice and a sense of adventure, you are bound to have the time of your life.

Some people shy away from cruises because they view them as being risky and dangerous.  This is not the case at all—if you simply follow travel tips given to you by friends and cruise advice provided by the cruise company, you will have nothing to worry about on your exciting adventure!

What To Wear

If you are taking a cruise to several different ports, then you should prepare for lots of different weather conditions.  Layers of clothing work best, as if you aren't sure what the weather will be at your next port of call you can dress warmly, and just remove a sweater should it turn out to be more pleasant than you expected.

Make sure you pack a variety of clothing – pack for comfort firstly – slacks, sports wear, t-shirts and casual gear, but don't forget to pack a few smarter items too.  Check with your cruise line to see what the dress code is for dinners – some cruises have formal nights where you have to adhere to a dress code.

Staying Healthy on Board

Besides fearing for their safety, many travelers avoid cruises because they are subject to seasickness. When traveling, the cruise line provides advice and tips for dealing with seasickness.  Make sure to keep your stomach full; the best things to eat are water and crackers.  Also make sure to get plenty of rest.  Although seasickness symptoms usually stop after a few days, persistent seasickness can be stopped by a seasickness pill found on the ship.

Make sure your travel insurance will cover you for any medical emergencies while you are on board.  Bigger cruise ships should have a medical center and a travel nurse, and even smaller ships will have someone who has been trained to deal with medical emergencies.  You should still invest in good insurance, however, as treatment will not be free.

An Incredible Experience

The thought of a cruise may be scary at first, but if you quiz the cruise line before you go, and prepare carefully for the trip, you will have the time of your life – see the world, and have a great time doing so!
